- Next club meeting will be back to the first Tuesday of the month. At the Avonhead Bowling club , 730pm.
There is huge amount of fishing related things that go on with the CFFC
The Club Meetings consist of 2 parts broken up by a socializing/tea/coffee break.
The first part (usually till 8.30pm) is where any club business is
discussed, club trips, clinics etc as well as segments such as tie of the
month, spot of the month or tip of the month and who has been fishing.
After the break we hold a raffle for prizes purchased or donated by our sponsors and then we have guest speaker.
These speakers range from international anglers and fishing authors , well known NZ personalities and guides to people who have a wealth of information on a subject related to fly fishing or the outdoors.
Paid Up Club members have access to our comprehensive library of fishing books and videos as well as the clubs website / forum which is one of the top NZ fishing sites. On top of that the club aslo offers to members the opportunity to loan fishing sets of top of the line Sage Rods and reels as well as the chance to use our inflatable float tube type unit ,the "Water Stryder", which can give you a different perspective when fishing on lakes.
All of which adds up to the opportunity to try good gear before you need to even start thinking about shelling out $$.(a small loan fee applies)
We also organise club trips and a variety of "clinics" that range from 4X4 driving,"stream craft", casting and fly tying to name but a few
We look forward to seeing you next meeting.
See you there
Attendees of the meeting please note getting guest speakers, is getting more and more challenging. It will be even harder if people continue to talk during these presentations including talks and tips etc etc
The club expectations are that we display good manners as matter of courtesy so please refrain from talking during unless its to ask or answer questions
If talking , dont be surprised when you get singled out.
- Winter time is a great time to get yourself sorted for the new season. To aid people who are new or novices to fly fishing rivers and streams, the club is organising a Stream Craft Day. This a must for newbies going to Twizel in November as it gives you an extremely valuable lesson on how to approach and fish rivers learning from a bit of a gun himself , John Sanders who will have assitance from some others including Allan Fyffe. There will be a BBQ lunch provided @ $10 which for the day is a bargain for what you'll learn
